Whether writing scripts for your favorite YouTube channels or creating fangirl-fueled fiction of her own, the one thing Catrina loves to do more than anything is create original, fun, and diverse content. She has worked on major social media campaigns for popular franchises, television networks and new media endeavors, coordinated blockbuster live stream events, and even managed to make time to start work on personal endeavors like her own sci-fi comic book and a few fan films.
Her work has been featured all over the industry, including editorials on The Wrap, the official Star Wars blog and Syfy as well as live celebrity Q&A moderating for films and tv shows. From comic con coverage to calling the shots on set, Catrina is a versatile, creative storyteller who can single-handedly produce fun content and reach massive audiences that will engage with it in big ways.
Catrina leapt into digital marketing the moment she landed in Los Angeles. Her earliest work included creative development behind Ariana Grande’s ‘Put Your Hearts Up’ digital campaign as a social media coordinator at Black Sheep Social Media Group for roughly a year.
She moved on to Felicia Day's Geek & Sundry Production House, where she served as the Social Media and Community Manager. Her work on Spellslingers earned her an IAWTV Award Nomination, and her multi-platform social media campaign for TableTop‘s crowdfunded third season contributed to its record-breaking Indiegogo success. Catrina coordinated the online campaign for the 2013 TableTop Day Worldwide Event, which trended for 48 hours on Twitter and Instagram, recieving over 500,000 interactions throughout the event.
She went on to work at BLT Communications, doing agency-based management work on several different accounts. Catrina created content calendars and supplied social copywriting for shows like Saban’s Power Rangers and Amazon’s Award-Winning Mozart in the Jungle.
Most recently, Catrina revived and led the social media department at Wizard World, serving a nationwide community of over 20 markets. Her time with the company saw their social media presence flip on its head in the best of ways, thanks to her passion for community engagement and fast response time. Catrina organized various interactive campaigns, including a Snapchat campaign for 2017's release of Wonder Woman, created in collaboration with Warner Bros. Studios. She also helped coordinate live streamed events, including Michael Rooker's Historical Cannon Shooting and a Facebook Live Escape Room run featuring Jon Heder. Here's a look at one post-show report.
From podcasts to fan films and live productions, Catrina has worked on several different projects and worn many hats. With a keen knowledge of the industry, Catrina's work in both production and pop culture journalism have led her to some incredible heights. After studying political journalism in college, Catrina moved into the realm of film to pursue her various creative desires within the industry. This has led her to meeting with and interviewing some of the industry's biggest stars, including Mark Hamill, Lewis Black, and more.
Catrina has worked on several indie productions as a writer, script supervisor, and host. She honed her skills at Geek & Sundry, where, along with her duties as social media manager, Catrina learned the ropes of production from new media creative titans. Along with her duties as Senior Editor at Moviepilot, Catrina regularly conducted interviews on the red carpet and dug her heels into it by asking researched, challenging questions on the latest films and tv shows. She has hosted live for outlets like Syfy, GamerHub (now ShackNews) and The Marvel Report.
